“He’s Our Guy” Nick Sirianni And GM Howie Roseman Announce Eagles Will Stick With Jalen Hurts

Despite fans speculation after the Eagles playoff loss to Tampa Bay, Eagles GM Howie Roseman said that QB Jalen Hurts would be their starter for the 2022 season. Some fans speculated that Philadelphia would pick up a new QB with one of their 3 first round draft picks. Others thought that the Eagles may trade for Seahawks veteran Russell Wilson but Roseman said "We've got to do whatever we can to continue to help him develop. And how do we do that? By surrounding him with really good players.” Head Coach Nick Sirianni added "Jalen knows where he stands with us. He knows he's our quarterback … I thought he did a great job of getting better throughout the year. There's no secrets there. He knows he's our guy.”

In his first year as a starter, Hurts had a completion rate of 61.3% and threw for 3,144 yards and had the most rushing yards of any QB this season at 784. Hurts became the youngest QB to start a playoff game in franchise history against the Bucs. It was not a good game for Hurts who went 23/43 with two interceptions and only one touchdown pass.

However, Roseman and Sirianni had seen enough from him in the regular season where the Eagles went 9-8. For fans looking for a new era of Philadelphia football and fans who just purchased the jersey of the young quarterback, you likely have more to look forward to in the coming years with Hurts under center.
