Chief Justice John Roberts, is looking for middle ground, floating a compromise that would allow abortion bans at 15 weeks but keep in place the right in early stages of pregnancy. Justice Brett Kavanaugh nor Justice Amy Coney Barrett don’t appear to be remotely interested in this solution and the three liberal justices who will almost certainly vote to keep Roe in place.
All of the conservative justices with the relative exception of Robert’s have thrown easy questions towards Mississippi Solicitor General Scott Stewart and been tough on those representing the Jackson Women’s Health Organization
Justice Kavanaugh, in his 2018 senate confirmation stated that he believed Roe v. Wade was a settled law and assured GOP Senator Susan Collins (R-ME) that he would not overturn Roe. Today he has signaled that he is open to curbing abortion rights if not reversing Roe entirely.
